Installing free softwares in an easy way on Android

Hello readers,

Today I will present an easy way to have totally free software on your Android device without having to worry about updates. In the official store of Google there are several free software, but in the vast majority, it is difficult to identify the software license and even some that are free have advertisements and other annoying things. Thinking about Android users comes a very convenient alternative called F-Droid.

The F-droid is a repository of softwares, just like the Google Play Store, with some useful differences. The first thing to note is that only free software, whether GPL, MIT, Apache, etc., is distributed. The second interesting point is that the repository has clearly detailed in each application whether it has advertisements, promotes non-free applications, etc. Finally, there are some apps that are only available on F-Droid, whether it’s Google’s violation of terms or some other reason.

A very good app that is only available on F-Droid is AdBlock. This app will block ads in other apps. Due to Google’s policy (and its hunger for money) the app has been removed from its official store, so it is possible to download only through these alternative repositories. Please note that you need to have root on Android to use this app.

To download applications you can visit the official website https://f-droid.org. But I find it more useful to download the official application from the store, because we get notifications of when there are updates available.
